got the motz

here are the results of my summer cheese making! It was amazingly good and easy to make. Yay for the motz, mozzarella, that is.

Yeah, you made cheese. Maybe one day I'll give this a go. It looks easy but I'm sure I can find a way to screw it up.

wendi, you would love it. if you ever do it, don't add more than a quarter of the salt they suggeset. ricki, the cheese queen, is where i got my kit (http://www.cheesemaking.com/).

yum! helped make mozz once a long long time ago when i was working in a restaurant, then helped make a chef friend make ricotta, both times i was amazed by how magically easy and delicious it was, yet i never was brave enough to do it on my own. hmm. maybe you've pushed me over the edge...(rmembering the crazy rubber stringiness of the mozzarella--amazing that it finally turns into a ball).

Jen, you ARE a mysterious woman. How did I not know you knew the goodness of cheese making first hand?!? :) I see a cheese making revival in your future.

argh. it's kind of like canning--i'm an excellent cheerleader/assistant/hunter-gatherer, but terrified of poisoning everyone, so much too scared to do it on my own!
