pie time
so, i fell into a boat load of lapin cherries, courtesy of a generous friend with a great cherry tree. I forgot how much effort it takes to make the dough but it was well worth it. The cookbook says that housewives use to make about 12 pies a week since they were eaten for breakfast and dessert. —i think rosie the riveter got those guns from cooking more than war time equipment.

the crust is only difficult because you make it so beautiful! that pie looks amazing. i made an apple pie today--your comment (on transitory) was so accurate--i've been obsessed with pies and gelatos and sorbets ever since the weather started getting nice and the farmers markets full of summery produce...i guess it is too much to hope that you'll still have cherries in two weeks...
