camouflage in red

maple leaves hid my foot while i was shooting. it was a delightfully unexpected camo pattern.

autumnal oasis

a strip of suburban fall color created an autumnal oasis. bounded by california's dry grass/golden hills, it stands out. the  developer-inspired nature-scape in the midst of a more genuine landscape interests me.

fly over

an aerial view of the play lot's pebble boulders.

refine

refinery emerges, oddly, from its sylvan setting. there is an apocalyptic feel here.

same sun

Sofia Lacin and Hennessy Christophel just completed the transformation of a huge water tank into Same Sun, a super-smart, site-specific artwork that compliments the Davis landscape. I love that they took the leap to make this work abstract and the incorporation of shadow casting sculptures on top is a great idea (you can just see it casting the letter "N" here). The shadows interact with the painted letters and move across the tank each day to complete the Latin phrase, "The Sun Shines Upon Us All".

i love the pink shadows these chairs cast just over the line. i'd love to capture that as a photogram.

one red, a gazillion green

this was the last big haul of tomatoes and they were GOOD. the yellow ones are actually over ripe "green" tomatoes which were tasty and a good producer. i managed to slow roast and freeze a few batches to enjoy on a nice winter day when we need to remember what summer is all about.

when i first moved to california i saw trucks hauling two long, connected loads of tomatoes through the central valley. the visual struck me as art and it is still an amazing sight to see. -it would be great on travel bingo cards.
